Dr. Gupta does not service medical emergencies, nor does he provide primary care services. If you have a medical emergency, you must contact your primary care physician or dial 911.
Dr. Gupta does not bill insurance companies; it is up to each individual to determine whether their insurance plan provides reimbursement for consultations, supplements and lab tests. Please note that we cannot guarantee reimbursement. This will depend on your individual plan. We are not able to assist with any questions related to reimbursement/insurance.
What is Functional Medicine?
Functional Medicine, rather than targeting individual symptoms, focuses on the optimal functioning of the entire body and its organs. It addresses the underlying causes of disease, using a systems-oriented approach in partnership with understanding the conditions and history in which the disease manifested. Genetic, environmental and lifestyle factors all have a direct influence of long-term health and chronic health issues.

Is Functional Medicine a scam?
The ignorant haters (usually financed by Big Pharma) may lead you to believe that Functional Medicine is indeed a scam. But no, Functional Medicine is not a scam. We get tons of hate mail every day because we offer cutting-edge medicine that threatens Big Pharma and their corrupt touts. Every such hate mail is a badge of honor for us. Once the conventional community has spent all their energy offering mediocre ideas, they will eventually come around to the same conclusions as the Functional Medicine community. What is Dr. Gupta's Method?
Dr. Gupta's method is a functional medicine lab-based health approach, focused on addressing five common conditions – weight gain, fatigue, depression, female hormone and digestive problems – through restoring the 3 main body systems: hormones, digestion and detoxification. Typically these 3 main systems have become compromised long BEFORE the symptoms appeared. The lab tests are used to determine the required natural support needed to rebalance your body back to its normal state.
How is this approach different from other practitioners?
Dr. Gupta's method addresses the 5 most chronic symptoms of weight gain, fatigue, depression, hormone imbalances and digestive problems that are typically misunderstood/misdiagnosed by conventional medicine practitioners who attempt to address the symptoms, not the root cause.
How long does it take to get results?
Please remember that you did not get sick overnight, so results are not going to come overnight either. Our standard programs are for a minimum of 6 months. As a general rule, it takes one month of repair for each year you’ve suffered from a specific problem. Expect a 10% improvement with each month of care if the protocols are followed correctly.

Will functional medicine work for me? I'm skeptical!
A healthy dose of skepticism is always welcome. In fact, we encourage you to send in respectable scientific papers and journals that prove your point. However, please note that Wikipedia is neither a respectable website nor a scientific resource. We are happy to engage with you if you have respectable science to back your arguments.

Appointments

What is the best way to schedule an appointment with Dr. Gupta?
The fastest way to book an appointment is to use the online scheduler.
How quickly can I get an appointment?
We encourage clients to book 2 weeks in advance. Depending on the time of the year, we can usually schedule a new patient or lab results appointment within 1-2 weeks of the requested time.
What is the best way to return the new patient paperwork?
Via our patient portal. You will receive an invitation to our portal after you have signed up as a patient.
What's your no-show policy?
A patient who has missed his/her appointment without giving at least 24 hours notice to the clinic may rebook after 60 days have elapsed since the original appointment. This service is free of charge. If the patient misses his/her appointment a second time, a $75 rebooking fee will be charged.
Lab work

How many labs are required per person?
The number of labs recommended will depend on your individual situation including the number of issues you struggle with and the length of time you have been experiencing them, but the range is 1-4 lab tests.
Do I have to take all the recommended tests at once?
No, but it is advisable to get them as soon as possible so we can pinpoint the exact source of the problem.
How long does it take to get the lab results?
The results of your lab test(s) will be sent to Dr. G 2 to 4 weeks after mailing your specimens to the lab. After evaluation, we will contact you to schedule a follow up appointment to review your results and to recommend a wellness protocol.
Who does the lab review and wellness program design?
Dr. Gupta does all lab review sessions and will design your protocol during your lab results consultation. The rest of our team helps with follow up, nutritional and lifestyle coaching as well as with disseminating all of our health and wellness educational information.
What type of lab tests are required?
Depending on the type of test, the samples required are saliva, urine or stool. All tests are completed by the client through easy test kits that are self-administered in the comfort of your own home. Dr. G does not do any blood tests.
Which labs do you use for testing?
We use several labs like Diagnostic Solutions, Genova, Great Plains among others. We cannot guarantee that your preferred lab will be used when you order a particular test. All labs that we use are fully CLIA certified.

What are the fees for Functional Medicine consultations?
New patient initial consultations (15 minutes) with Dr. Gupta are free for a limited period. Book here.
Our experience shows that purchasing one of our packages is always more cost-effective for patients instead of doing individual consultations. However if you wish to go à la carte, please continue reading.

Are your services covered by insurance?
No. Our services are out of pocket. Our staff are not authorized to answer any questions related to reimbursement/insurance. It is up to each individual to determine if they will be reimbursed or not.

How much do lab tests cost?
Depending on the lab test, the cost is $150-400 per lab kit and you can always start a program just by ordering a single test.
How much do wellness programs cost after lab work?
Depending on the protocol created by Dr. Gupta, the estimated total cost starts at approximately $100 and depends on the length of the program.
What is the average cost I will incur for my initial new patient consult plus test kits?
It depends on how many test kits are recommended (typically 1-4) but we always recommend that if there are any budgetary concerns, clients start with their first test.
Does my new patient consultation fee include follow ups, test kits and supplements?
The new patient consultation is an assessment of your health and recommendations on what tests are required to understand the state of your body systems. The new patient consultation fee does not include any follow ups, test kits or supplements.

How long are the programs that Dr. G recommends?
Initial programs range anywhere from 3 to 18 months depending on the degree of your health condition.
How often should I retest?
While retesting isn’t required, it is recommended that a client retest at the 6 month mark to measure improvement and adjust protocols if needed. Once a client has achieved their desired health results, we recommend annual testing to ensure your body systems continue functioning at their best.

What is the fastest way to order supplements/test kits after I have become a patient?
The quickest and easiest way to order supplements or test kits is via our online store.

Does Dr Gupta receive kickbacks or any other form of illegal remuneration from supplement companies?
No. Dr. Gupta DOES NOT have a personal agenda of selling supplements and he does not receive kickbacks from supplement companies. In the interest of patient safety, Dr Gupta recommends certain private label professional brands. However, the patient is free to buy supplements from any source. For more details, please refer to our supplement liability waiver which is provided to all new patients.

What's your supplement safety policy?
The internet is full of counterfeit and contaminated supplements. Dr Gupta guarantees the quality, safety and genuineness of supplements purchased through our clinic. However, the patient is free to purchase from his/her own sources. We are not in a position to certify the quality of supplements purchased through third parties, nor do we answer questions related to where the patient should purchase supplements.
Patient assumes all risk if he/she chooses to purchase supplements from third parties.

How soon does my supplement/test kit order ship once I have placed an online order?
Our office ships within 24 hours of receipt of your online order unless stated otherwise. This excludes Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.
What shipping method is used for my supplements?
Orders are shipped by regular UPS ground unless faster delivery is requested. International orders are shipped via FedEx Priority or DHL Express, depending on availability. We do not ship international via UPS.
Please be aware of customs requirements for your country. We will work with you to facilitate customs clearance. However, we are unable to provide refunds for packages that are seized or rejected by customs. Customs duties and taxes are the sole responsibility of the patient. International patients must be aware that international customs regulations can be often frustrating and make no sense whatsoever. Therefore, please check the rules PRIOR to placing your order. We have zero liability for customs-related issues.
Can I email Dr. G with any questions/concerns?
Dr. G is happy to answer brief questions via email you may have about your protocol or symptoms. If it is a complex question which requires further back and forth communication, Dr. G will recommend scheduling a 15 min. consult.
