– Frequently Asked Questions –
Q: Dale Bredesen, MD, has researched and recommended L-Citrulline. Why wasn’t it used in the ReCODE products?
A: L-Citrulline is a potent nitric oxide booster. However, the volume of L-Citrulline needed to get the desired effect is extremely high, so our formulators worked with Dr. Bredesen to identify and secure similar or superior ingredients. Alternative nitric oxide boosters, like beetroot, ginger, and vitamin C, were included in the formulations to achieve the same or better results.
Q: Why was ubiquinone used in the products instead of ubiquinol?
A: Both ubiquinone and ubiquinol are effective isomers of Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) supplementation. Hundreds of scientific studies have shown that ubiquinone promotes energy production and neutralizes free radicals.
Q: Dale Bredesen, MD, has researched and recommended MCT oil. Why wasn’t it used in the ReCODE products?
A: A number of health benefits have been attributed to medium-chain triglyceride (MCT) oil, and Dr. Bredesen is a proponent of it. However, when he worked with our product formulators, they determined potassium caprylate would be a better ingredient to use in the ReCODE supplements. Potassium caprylate is more stable, and a higher-density form of MCT than MCT oil.
Q: Dale Bredesen, MD, has researched and recommended Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactobacillus brevis and Bifidobacterium lactis. Why weren’t these probiotics used in the ReCODE products?
A: Although Dr. Bredesen has recommended Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactobacillus brevis and Bifidobacterium lactis in the past, he and our product formulators chose to use Lactobacillus helveticus, Bifidobacterium bifidum, and Bifidobacterium breve instead. These three probiotic strains provide similar or superior gut health benefits and have consistently proven to have a stronger stability profile. Shelf-stable ingredients help to protect the potency and integrity of the ReCODE supplements.
Q: Why do some of the individual ingredient doses in the ReCODE product formulas differ from the supplement doses recommended by Dale Bredesen, MD, in his book The End of Alzheimer’s?
A: Dr. Bredesen worked directly with LifeSeasons to create and formulate each of the ReCODE supplement products. Each ingredient was evaluated for its effectiveness, potency, stability, and cost. In a number of instances, ingredients were changed because a better source was identified.
Q: The ReCODE supplements core kit contains six different products: Morning Balance powder, Evening Balance powder, Daily Multivitamin, Daily Probiotics, Daily Antioxidants and Daily Omega-3s. How was the ingredient mix determined and why were they formulated in this way?
A: Ingredients come in many different forms, and often drive product development based on their stability requirements and synergistic functions. The ingredients Dr. Bredesen wanted to include in the core kit were initially grouped based on form—oils needed to be in soft gels, larger-dose dry ingredients needed to be in capsules or powder. Taste and convenience were also taken into consideration. Ultimately, six separate core products were developed to encompass all of the ingredients needed to support those on the Bredesen treatment protocol.
Q: Do all of the products work safely together?
A: Yes, the six core ReCODE products, and each of the six products developed to address specific subtypes identified by the ReCODE report. have been designed to be safe and effective when consumed daily. They have also been synergistically formulated—which means the ingredients are designed to amplify the effectiveness and potency of other ingredients within the same product family. Note: Some formulas should be taken in the morning, some with food and some without. Always refer to the label for suggested use.
Q: Should I be concerned about any of the ingredients interacting with other medications I may be taking?
A: As with any dietary supplement or prescription medication, do not take ReCODE supplements without first consulting your healthcare practitioner, especially if you are pregnant, nursing, or are under medical supervision for any reason.
Q. Does the ReCODE Daily Probiotics need to be refrigerated?
A. The three probiotic strains used in ReCODE Daily Probiotics, Lactobacillus helveticus, Bifidobacterium bifidum, and Bifidobacterium breve, have strong shelf-stability profiles. However, we recommend storing ReCODE Daily Probiotics in the refrigerator after opening for best results.
